Trey DePriest

Going into his junior season, linebacker Trey DePriest replaces Nico Johnson to play alongside C.J. Mosley in the middle of Alabama’s 3-4 defensive scheme.

DePriest enrolled in the University of Alabama in January, 2011 to participate in spring practice. He came to Alabama from Springfield (Ohio) High School as a four-star prospect by many and a five-star by some.

As a freshman, DePriest played in all of Alabama’s 13 games in 2011 as a special teams player and reserve linebacker. He totaled 25 tackles with a season high against Kent State with 10 tackles.

Trey’s playing time increased in 2012 as he started 13 of Alabama’s 14 games. He recorded 59 total tackles. He did not start against Western Carolina because Alabama opened in a dime package. His season – and career – high came against LSU when he recorded 10 tackles.

DePriest missed Alabama’s spring game while recovering from foot surgery. Fans can expect DePriest to make many plays for the Crimson Tide defense in 2013. Depending on his season, he may have the opportunity to declare for the NFL Draft as a junior.
