Jacquizz Rodgers

Atlanta, while not as deep as New Orleans or Carolina, has a pretty deep RB pool.  In 2013, it got even deeper. Jacquizz Rodgers and Jason Snelling have proved that they can pound the rock, but with the addition of Steven Jackson this offseason, both of these young backs will receive less carries.  Last season, Coach Mike Smith told the media that he believed Rodgers could be a full time starter in this league. This leaves some of us thinking, “If they aren’t starting, what else could we do with them?”  Well, there’s 2 ways we can handle it…

• Trade Jacquizz or Jason:  This very well could be an option.  A powerful running style in a small back is rare, in fact, MJD is the only other running back that almost exactly fits Quizz’s shape.  His stature keeps him low to the ground, and allows him to display incredible elusiveness.  Also, Rodgers “kinda” has experience as a starter, and would definitely draw tons of  interest on the market. Snelling would draw interest as well due to his versatility.
• Keep Them:  This is what will probably happen.  Steven Jackson isn’t getting younger, and will not run the ball 350 times this season.  A capable RB will be needed, and Jacquizz fits the bill.  Plus, Snelling is needed as well.  Ewing’s ability to play is still questionable, and J-Snell can play all over the backfield.  We have seen him at fullback in the past, so expect him to stay around for his experience in different positions.

I believe we should keep them around, but could the draft picks entice Atlanta into a trade?  No one knows but the Comrade.
